Fort Worth, Texas – Early Wednesday storms are bringing gusty winds and lightning across North Texas, with activity expected to shift east and taper off by midday. But the threat isn’t over—stronger storms capable of producing hail and damaging wind gusts are expected to redevelop in Central Texas this afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, morning showers and storms will move through the Dallas-Fort Worth area and exit eastward by late morning. The greatest risk for severe weather will then shift south, with Killeen and Palestine under a strong chance for isolated severe storms through at least 6 p.m.
Communities including Waco, Cisco, and areas along I-35 should prepare for additional storms developing in the afternoon. Hail and wind gusts over 40 mph are possible, particularly in areas highlighted as strong risk zones. Outdoor activities could be interrupted, and minor travel delays are likely on I-20 and US-84.
Residents are urged to keep phones charged, secure outdoor items, and remain weather-aware throughout the day. This system is expected to clear eastward by tonight, but further updates may follow depending on storm development this afternoon.
⚠️ Storm warnings remain in effect for parts of Central Texas through this evening.
