Fort Worth, TX – A cold weather advisory remains in effect across North and Central Texas until 9 a.m. Monday as residents prepare for frigid temperatures and possible snow showers early in the week. Lows on Martin Luther King Jr. Day are expected in the low 20s, with wind chills as low as 5 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, snow flurries may begin late Monday night into early Tuesday, particularly west of the I-35 corridor. While accumulation is expected to remain light in North Texas, areas further south could see up to two inches. Drivers are urged to exercise caution on bridges and overpasses, which may become slick during early morning commutes.

Sunday night will see mostly clear skies with a low of 19 degrees. Monday will remain cold, with a high near 39 and strong winds from the northeast at 10 to 20 mph. Tuesday will bring partly sunny skies, but temperatures will struggle to rise above 36. A warming trend is expected midweek, with highs reaching 47 by Wednesday and 52 on Thursday.

Residents should dress in layers and avoid prolonged exposure to the cold to prevent frostbite or hypothermia. Those relying on space heaters are reminded to use them safely. Ensure pets have access to warm shelters and unfrozen water.

The cold streak marks one of the most significant winter events for the region this year. Stay tuned for updates on potential snow impacts and improving weather conditions later in the week.
