Fort Worth, Texas – Severe thunderstorms capable of producing large hail, flash flooding, and isolated tornadoes are expected across Central and North Texas through Tuesday afternoon, with the most dangerous conditions targeting the Killeen and Waco areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch and Flood Watch remain in effect through late tonight for much of North and Central Texas. Rainfall totals could reach 3 inches widely, with localized amounts up to 5 inches, especially in areas under red-level storm risk like Killeen and Palestine. The primary hazards include damaging winds, frequent lightning, and flash flooding.
Cities such as Waco, Canton, and DFW are in the zone for strong storms this morning, while areas from Killeen to Palestine could see severe weather intensify by afternoon. Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads—turn around, don’t drown—and secure outdoor items ahead of potential damaging winds.
This is the same corridor hit by last month’s hailstorms, and residents should have multiple alert methods ready, including NOAA radios and mobile apps.
Storm activity is expected to taper off overnight, but more alerts may be issued if the storm line slows or strengthens.
