Memphis, TN – A second round of strong storms is set to hit the Mid-South just after 4 a.m. Sunday, with damaging winds and hail threatening early-morning travel and power across West Tennessee and North Mississippi.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, the region remains under a Level 2 (Slight) risk for severe weather through Sunday evening. Scattered storms moving from northwest to southeast may bring wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail. The most significant impacts are expected along and south of I-40, including Memphis, Oxford, Tupelo, and Clarksdale.
Localized flooding is also possible in low-lying areas due to saturated ground from earlier storms. Residents in Germantown, Southaven, and Jackson should prepare for brief outages and blocked roads due to downed branches or debris.
If you’re heading out early, use extreme caution and avoid flooded intersections. Keep mobile devices charged and have weather alerts enabled.
Another window for severe weather opens later Sunday, between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., with continued threats of large hail and damaging winds. Stay weather-aware, as additional alerts may be issued.
