Shreveport, Louisiana – Rain and rising storm chances are sweeping across northern Louisiana today as cloud cover thickens behind an upper low-pressure system centered over the region. Daytime highs will hover in the low to mid-70s, offering a cooler but mild Saturday for much of the state.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, showers will become more widespread this afternoon, especially east of Interstate 49. Rain chances climb as high as 70% near Monroe, with 40% to 60% probabilities in cities like Ruston, Farmerville, and Natchitoches. A few isolated thunderstorms are also possible, though severe weather is not expected.
Drivers should stay alert for slick road conditions, particularly during the afternoon commute. Outdoor plans may need adjusting as intermittent rainfall continues into the evening. Power outages are unlikely but possible if storms intensify locally. Residents are advised to charge devices and use caution while traveling on wet roads.
Today’s cooler trend follows several days of above-average warmth. Saturday’s highs will sit 5 to 10 degrees below normal across northern parishes, including Bossier and Webster.
Rain is expected to taper off by early Sunday morning, but additional updates may follow if storm activity strengthens later tonight.
