Tallahassee, FL – A pattern of afternoon storms and high heat will settle over the capital city this week, bringing repeated chances for disruptive weather that could impact travel and outdoor plans leading up to the Juneteenth holiday.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday carries a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, expected to develop after 2 p.m. Drivers along I-10 and Thomasville Road should watch for rapidly changing conditions during the afternoon commute. The threat of storms does not end Monday. Tuesday’s conditions will be nearly identical, with a high near 92 and a 70 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms developing after 2 p.m. Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items and have a way to receive weather alerts.

This unsettled summer pattern is expected to persist through the latter half of the week. Wednesday will see a 50 percent chance for afternoon thunderstorms and a high near 93. For Juneteenth on Thursday, the probability of storms rises again to 60 percent, mainly after 2 p.m., with a high of 93. The work week concludes with a similar outlook for Friday, featuring a 60 percent storm chance and a high near 94.
