Grand Forks, ND – Residents of eastern North Dakota should prepare for snow showers and frigid conditions as the weekend approaches. A weak system is expected to bring light snowfall late Friday into Saturday, with impacts likely along Highway 2 and surrounding areas.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Forks, a 20% chance of light snow begins late tonight and extends into Saturday morning, primarily affecting northeastern North Dakota and parts of northwest Minnesota. High temperatures Saturday will struggle to reach 20 degrees, while overnight lows could dip below zero.
Drivers are advised to exercise caution, as the light snow may cause slick spots on roads, particularly early Saturday. Winds from the south will remain steady at 10 to 14 mph, potentially creating drifting snow in open areas.
The five-day outlook remains cold, with daytime highs ranging from the upper teens to low 20s through early next week. Partly sunny skies are expected Sunday, with a slight chance of snow returning Sunday night into Monday morning. Highs will climb closer to 25 degrees by Tuesday, with breezy conditions continuing.
Residents should dress in layers and limit outdoor exposure due to the subzero wind chills anticipated overnight. For up-to-date weather alerts, visit the NWS website or tune in to local forecasts.
