Grand Forks, ND – Blustery winds and a sharp drop in temperatures will make outdoor plans difficult for Grand Forks residents this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Bismarck, gusts up to 34 mph are expected early Sunday morning, with daytime highs reaching only 38°F. Winds will continue out of the north at 14 to 21 mph throughout the day, making conditions feel significantly colder.

Roadway conditions on Highway 83, especially near Lansford and Grand Forks, may be affected by reduced visibility and potential snow accumulation by midweek. Residents are urged to limit travel during peak wind hours and prepare for slick roads starting Tuesday. A mix of rain and snow is expected to develop late Tuesday night and continue into Wednesday, with an 80% chance of precipitation.

Sunday will begin partly sunny with winds tapering slightly by evening. Monday offers some relief with sunshine and a high near 38°F. But by Tuesday, snow chances increase sharply, prompting early weather advisories for the area.

Here’s the five-day outlook for Grand Forks:

  • Sunday: Partly sunny, high of 38°F, gusts up to 21 mph.
  • Monday: Sunny early, partly cloudy late. High of 38°F, low of 22°F.
  • Tuesday: Rain/snow likely. High near 40°F, gusts as high as 29 mph.
  • Wednesday: Snow likely, high near 38°F, 80% chance of precipitation.
  • Thursday: Sunny and colder, high of 43°F with calmer winds.
