Grand Forks, ND – A winter weather pattern is set to impact North Dakota this week, bringing light snow and temperature fluctuations. Residents should prepare for light snowfall Thursday and Saturday, as well as gusty winds that could affect travel on I-29.

According to the National Weather Service, the first round of snow is expected Thursday, with up to one inch possible. Highs will climb to 27°F Thursday afternoon ahead of a cold front, but temperatures will quickly drop overnight as winds shift northwest. Gusts could reach up to 29 mph, creating reduced visibility in some areas.

The second snow event is forecast for Saturday, with another inch of snow possible. Weekend highs will hover around 16°F, with lows dropping into the single digits. Drivers on I-29 and local roads should remain cautious, particularly during the snowfall and when wind speeds increase.

For the remainder of the week, Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with a high near 12°F and calmer winds. Friday will see similar conditions, with highs near 16°F and a slight chance for cloud cover breaking briefly.

With icy conditions and wind chills below zero, residents are urged to bundle up, limit outdoor activities, and keep an emergency kit in their vehicles when traveling.
