East Grand Forks, MN — A powerful mix of rain and snow threatens to impact travel and daily routines across eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota starting Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation will begin as rain Tuesday afternoon in East Grand Forks before changing to snow overnight. Wind gusts could reach up to 40 mph by Tuesday night, creating low visibility on local roads, especially U.S. Highway 2. Residents are urged to limit unnecessary travel Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Snow is likely to continue through Wednesday, with patchy blowing snow expected between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Accumulations will be light, but strong winds—gusting near 35 mph—may still create slick conditions and reduced visibility.
