Grand Forks, ND – Snow may return to parts of eastern North Dakota Friday, just as spring conditions begin to take hold across the state.

A brief but noticeable shift in the weather pattern is expected Friday, with a 50% chance of snow in Grand Forks and surrounding areas, including along I-29. According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will begin mid-morning and taper off by afternoon, with up to half an inch possible. Winds could gust up to 21 mph, creating minor visibility issues for drivers and those traveling for the weekend.

Northwest winds will continue into Friday night, though skies will begin to clear. Weekend conditions improve but remain breezy, with wind gusts reaching up to 30 mph Sunday. Saturday is expected to be sunny with a high near 40°F. Sunday warms slightly to 38°F but will feel colder due to gusty winds.

Residents should prepare for variable conditions—snow early Friday, followed by sunshine and strong winds through the weekend. Motorists, especially those traveling on I-29, should monitor road conditions and drive cautiously during peak gust periods.

Looking ahead, Monday and Tuesday will offer calmer and sunnier weather with highs climbing to the upper 40s by Tuesday. By midweek, temperatures may reach 60°F, signaling a more consistent spring pattern.
