Grand Forks, ND – Foggy conditions continue to blanket northeastern North Dakota, creating travel hazards and reducing visibility on key routes like I-29. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a dense fog advisory through noon today, warning drivers to expect visibility under 1/4 mile.

According to the NWS, dense fog is most prevalent near the Red River Valley, with additional patchy fog expected to linger into Tuesday morning. The conditions could lead to slippery roads and hazardous travel, particularly during peak commuting hours. Motorists are advised to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra distance between vehicles.

Tuesday will see partial clearing by the afternoon, with temperatures climbing to a high of 26°F. A warming trend continues into Wednesday and Thursday, with highs reaching the mid-30s under mostly cloudy skies. Winds will shift to the south at 10-20 mph, bringing milder conditions through Christmas Day.

Looking ahead, Christmas Day will feature cloudy skies with a high near 31°F. However, fog could make a return during the evening, adding to potential travel complications. By Friday, the forecast includes a 30% chance of rain and freezing rain, raising concerns for slippery surfaces heading into the weekend.

Drivers and holiday travelers are encouraged to monitor local weather updates and adjust travel plans as necessary. The fog, combined with warmer temperatures, could create challenging road conditions across eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota.

Stay vigilant on the roads and prepare for fluctuating conditions as the holiday week unfolds.
