Peachtree City, GA – A crisp fall chill blankets much of Georgia early this morning, where a Frost Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT Saturday. The National Weather Service in Peachtree City warns that temperatures between 33°F and 36°F will lead to patchy frost across north and central portions of the state — including Atlanta, Athens, Rome, Gainesville, and Macon’s northern outskirts.

Under clear skies and calm winds, frost is already forming in sheltered valleys and low-lying areas from North Georgia’s foothills to the Oconee River Basin. Sensitive plants and crops are vulnerable to frost burn, so residents should cover outdoor vegetation, bring potted plants inside, and wrap exposed pipes if possible.

While frost will quickly fade after sunrise, drivers may notice foggy spots and frosty windshields early along I-75, I-20, and I-85. No travel hazards are expected, but rural roads could be slick in shaded areas.

The rest of the day will feature abundant sunshine with highs reaching the lower 60s — a picture-perfect autumn day once the chill breaks. Sunday will turn milder, with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s. Another cool-down is likely by midweek as a weak front sweeps through.

After an unusually warm October, this morning’s cold air brings the first widespread frost of the season, signaling that November’s cooler rhythm has finally arrived in Georgia.
