Raleigh, NC – North Carolina is bracing for another night of below-freezing temperatures, with lows expected to dip into the 20s tonight. Residents across the region are urged to prepare for icy conditions on major roadways, including US 1 and I-40, particularly during early morning hours when frost is likely to form.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s highs will struggle to climb past the mid-40s. Overnight, temperatures will plummet, with wind chill values making it feel even colder. Sunday offers a slightly milder day with mostly sunny skies and highs near 52 degrees, though early risers should still plan for sub-freezing wind chills.

Drivers are advised to exercise caution during their morning commutes. Bridges, overpasses, and shaded areas may retain icy patches. Local authorities recommend allowing extra travel time and ensuring vehicles are winter-ready, including checking tire pressure and windshield wiper fluid levels.

Looking ahead, temperatures remain below average through midweek. Monday will see sunny conditions with a high near 44 and lows dropping to 24. Tuesday and Wednesday promise clear skies, with daytime highs gradually increasing from the mid-40s to near 50 by Wednesday. Nights, however, remain frigid, with temperatures in the low 20s to 30s.

For those planning outdoor activities or holiday shopping for Small Business Saturday and beyond, bundle up and prepare for brisk conditions. Sunshine offers some relief during the day, but layers will be essential for comfort and safety.

Stay tuned for updates from the National Weather Service, and remember to monitor road conditions, especially during the early morning freeze.
