Raleigh, NC – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for central North Carolina, with snow, sleet, and ice expected to create hazardous travel conditions through Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, the advisory lasts from 7 a.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday. Areas affected include Durham, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and surrounding counties. Forecasts predict up to half an inch of snow and sleet accumulation, with ice accumulations reaching one-tenth of an inch.

Officials warn that roads, particularly bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick. Commuters in affected areas should prepare for delays and dangerous driving conditions throughout Tuesday. The most significant impacts are expected during the morning and evening rush hours.

Residents in Granville, Halifax, Vance, and Warren counties may also experience light ice accumulation, increasing the risk of travel disruptions. The North Carolina Department of Transportation advises drivers to slow down, allow extra travel time, and check road conditions via 511 before heading out.

Authorities urge residents to exercise caution and prepare for icy conditions until the advisory expires Wednesday morning.
