Raleigh, NC – A winter storm that brought icy roads and freezing temperatures is making way for a warming trend heading into the weekend. After bitterly cold conditions, residents can expect temperatures to climb into the 50s by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday’s snow showers will taper off, leaving behind mostly clear skies by Thursday night, with lows around 18°F. Friday will see sunshine and a high of 41°F, though wind chills in the morning could make it feel much colder.

The weekend forecast shows improving conditions. Saturday will be mostly sunny with highs reaching 46°F, and by Sunday, temperatures will climb to 54°F under clear skies. Overnight lows will also rise, staying above freezing by Sunday night.

Road conditions are expected to improve as temperatures rise, but drivers should remain cautious, especially on bridges and overpasses. The winter storm warning remains in effect until 1 p.m. Thursday, with lingering icy spots possible into Friday morning.

Next week, even warmer temperatures are expected, with highs near 64°F by Wednesday. Residents should prepare for a shift from winter’s grip to more spring-like conditions in the coming days.
