Raleigh, NC – Chilly weather will persist in North Carolina as sub-freezing temperatures are forecast for tonight, giving way to a slight warm-up by the weekend. While Friday will feature sunny skies, rain is likely to disrupt plans by Sunday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, Thursday night will see lows near 29°F under mostly clear skies, with wind chills making it feel even colder. Residents should cover outdoor plants and bring pets indoors as frost is expected.
Friday offers a brief respite, with highs reaching the lower 50s under sunny skies. Winds will remain light, creating pleasant outdoor conditions for those braving the cold start.
However, changes arrive over the weekend. Saturday will stay mostly sunny with highs near 52°F, but cloud cover builds into the evening. Rain chances begin Sunday afternoon, with a 30% chance of showers increasing to 50% overnight. Highs Sunday will hover near 53°F, with lows around 44°F.
Early next week, temperatures will continue to rise, with Monday reaching 64°F and another round of showers expected. Those traveling should monitor updates, as rainfall could impact road conditions along major highways, including I-40 and I-440.
For now, North Carolinians should prepare for cold nights and make use of Friday’s sunshine before rain returns.
