North Carolina Weather: Patchy Fog and Slight Showers Expected Tuesday as New Year’s Approaches

Wilmington, NC – Southeastern North Carolina will begin the week with dry and warm conditions, but changes are expected by Tuesday. Early Tuesday morning, patchy fog may reduce visibility, especially along coastal highways like U.S. Route 17. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously during their morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday’s high will reach 71°F, with a slight chance of afternoon showers. Winds will become variable, gusting up to 20 mph, while precipitation chances remain at 20%. Tuesday night will be mostly clear, with lows around 47°F. Residents planning New Year’s Eve celebrations should monitor forecasts for possible changes.

As the week progresses, cooler weather will move into the region. On Wednesday, sunny skies are expected with a high of 59°F, making it ideal for outdoor activities. However, lows will dip to 35°F Wednesday night. By Thursday, temperatures will peak at 54°F with plenty of sunshine, continuing into Friday.

Looking into the weekend, Saturday offers another sunny day with a high of 48°F, but lows will fall to the upper 20s. Residents are encouraged to dress warmly for early 2025 celebrations and stay updated on weather conditions as colder air settles across the area.
