Raleigh, NC – Clear skies and mild temperatures make for ideal Christmas weather across Raleigh, but rain looms for the weekend. Travelers and residents should prepare for changing conditions as temperatures rise and rain becomes likely by Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service, Christmas Day will remain sunny with a high near 53 degrees. Tonight will bring partly cloudy skies and a low of 32 degrees. Northeast winds are expected at 3 to 7 mph, keeping conditions calm through the evening.
By Thursday, the area will experience similar weather with highs near 50 degrees. However, a warming trend will begin Friday, with temperatures climbing into the mid-60s by Saturday. Rain is likely to arrive late Saturday night, with the heaviest showers predicted Sunday. Travel along I-40 could be impacted by wet roads during this period.
Residents are encouraged to finalize any outdoor plans before the rain arrives. Although the showers are expected to clear by Monday, the weekend’s wet conditions may lead to slick roadways and delays.
The extended forecast shows highs near 68 degrees Saturday, followed by a slight cool-down Sunday with temperatures around 67. Overnight lows will remain in the 40s and 50s, with steady winds at 5 to 10 mph.
