Raleigh, NC – A breezy and sunny start to 2025 continues across North Carolina, with gusty winds and mild daytime highs persisting through Thursday. Residents can expect temperatures in the low-to-mid 50s during the day, but brisk winds may make it feel cooler.
According to the National Weather Service, westerly winds will gust between 25-35 mph in areas such as Greensboro, Raleigh, and Rocky Mount. Drivers should exercise caution, especially on open highways, and secure loose outdoor decorations. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 20s and low 30s, making evenings and early mornings particularly chilly.
The cooler trend will continue into Friday as temperatures drop slightly, with highs in the upper 40s. Winds will subside, leaving sunny skies and calmer conditions. This weekend, however, temperatures will fall further, with highs only reaching the upper 30s on Saturday and overnight lows plunging into the 20s.
Residents are encouraged to prepare for freezing conditions, particularly by protecting pipes, plants, and pets. While no precipitation is expected, the colder air will be a sharp contrast to this week’s milder weather.
