Wilmington, NC – Sun and heat dominate Friday’s weather across southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina, with highs climbing into the upper 80s and lower 90s — just in time for National Doughnut Day.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, convective activity will be more isolated compared to earlier this week. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny, with intense solar radiation driving the UV Index to a “Very High” level of 10. Coastal areas like Myrtle Beach and Carolina Beach will hover in the mid-80s, while inland cities such as Lumberton and Florence will push into the low 90s.

Though the atmosphere will be less unstable, the chance of a few isolated thunderstorms remains, especially in the late afternoon. Travelers along I-95 and U.S. 17 should remain alert to pop-up downpours and brief lightning.

With strong sun exposure expected, residents are urged to apply sunscreen regularly, wear protective clothing, and stay hydrated. Those heading to beaches or parks should seek shade during peak UV hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

More settled weather continues into the weekend, but the risk of heat and sunburn remains. Additional updates may follow if storm activity increases.
