Newport, NC – North Carolina residents in Newport and surrounding areas should enjoy a sunny, calm weekend before preparing for a potential round of thunderstorms early next week.

Residents should expect gusty winds and increased chances of heavy rainfall, particularly after 8 p.m. Monday night, with a 70% chance of precipitation.

The risk increases Sunday night as a 50% chance of showers creeps into the area, followed by more significant storm activity Monday and Monday night. Winds will pick up, with gusts reaching 20 mph at times. Commuters along NC Highway 70 and coastal travelers should monitor updates for changing conditions.

Tuesday will see scattered showers before 8 a.m., clearing to mostly sunny skies with highs near 71°F. The extended forecast keeps the area dry and seasonable through midweek, with highs climbing back into the mid-70s by Thursday.
