Newport, NC – A warm and sunny Wednesday will give way to increasing clouds and a chance of showers late Thursday night, as temperatures remain mild across eastern North Carolina.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s high will reach near 70°F with calm winds shifting southwest at 5-8 mph. Tonight will remain mostly clear, with lows around 54°F and light south winds.

Thursday continues the warming trend, with highs near 69°F and stronger southwest winds at 7-17 mph, gusting up to 28 mph. A weak system moves in Thursday night, bringing a 30% chance of showers, mostly before 1 a.m. Overnight lows will dip to 48°F, with shifting northwest winds up to 14 mph.

By Friday, conditions clear up, with sunny skies and a high near 61°F. The weekend looks pleasant, with highs reaching 66°F Saturday before cooling slightly Sunday to 52°F. Nights will be chilly, with lows in the low 40s.
