Raleigh, NC – A storm system may bring freezing rain to parts of North Carolina Sunday evening through early Monday. Areas north of Raleigh, including the Piedmont and northern Coastal Plain, are most at risk for ice accumulation.

The National Weather Service forecasts temperatures falling near or below freezing late Sunday night. Rain may mix with freezing rain, creating slick roads and icy bridges. The greatest chance for ice accumulation lies north of U.S. Route 64. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by mid-morning Monday, reducing hazards.

According to forecasters, impacts will include patchy icy spots on roads, especially on bridges. Drivers are urged to exercise caution and monitor updates. Future refinements to the forecast could alter the timing or severity of conditions.

Residents in central and northern NC are advised to prepare for possible icy conditions. Stay updated through local weather channels and take necessary precautions while traveling.
