Blacksburg, VA – A cold weather advisory remains in effect for portions of Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia, with wind chills dropping as low as -12°F early Friday morning. The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, is in place until 10 a.m. EST.

Officials warn that exposure to these extreme temperatures could result in frostbite or hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Residents are urged to wear layered clothing, hats, and gloves when outdoors. Portable heaters should be used safely, and residents should avoid using generators or grills indoors.
