Asheville, NC – Portions of southwestern North Carolina are bracing for potentially heavy snowfall as a Winter Storm Watch has been issued from Friday morning through Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Greenville-Spartanburg, areas including Madison, Swain, Haywood, Graham, and Jackson counties could see snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches. The storm is expected to create hazardous travel conditions and the possibility of widespread power outages due to snow weighing down tree limbs and power lines.
The NWS warns that the heaviest snowfall is likely to occur during peak commute hours on Friday, both in the morning and evening. Residents in affected areas are advised to prepare for impassable roads and plan accordingly.
Officials recommend staying updated on the latest forecasts through NOAA Weather Radio or trusted news sources and taking precautionary measures, such as stocking emergency supplies and avoiding non-essential travel during the storm.
