North Carolina Tornadoes Leave 15 Injured, Major Building Damage Reported

Nash County, NC – Two tornadoes hit Sampson and Nash counties today, leaving significant damage in their wake. The National Weather Service confirmed the tornadoes, reporting widespread destruction.

The first tornado struck near Garland in Sampson County around 11:25 a.m. Trees and power lines went down on Helltown Road near the Bladen County line. Crews are working to restore power in the area.

At 1:31 p.m., another tornado touched down in Rocky Mount, Nash County. The storm damaged 11 buildings along Wesleyan Boulevard and Tiffany Boulevard. According to the National Weather Service, 15 people sustained injuries, with four listed as serious.

Local authorities are assessing damage and responding to calls for assistance. Residents are urged to remain cautious while cleanup operations continue. Emergency services and power restoration teams are working to clear debris and repair downed lines.
