Raleigh, NC – Rain and isolated thunderstorms are moving through the Triangle this Thanksgiving morning, posing challenges for travelers and outdoor plans. A strong storm or two remains possible before the system exits the area by mid-afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, showers are expected to taper off after noon, giving way to clearing skies and breezy conditions. Temperatures will climb to a high of 67 degrees, significantly above average for late November. However, wind gusts up to 29 mph may cause additional hazards for drivers along major roadways like Interstate 40 and U.S. Route 70.
Tonight, the region will experience decreasing clouds with lows dipping to 35 degrees. Black Friday shoppers should prepare for sunny but much cooler conditions, with highs reaching 54 degrees and northwest winds of 5 to 10 mph.
The upcoming weekend will feature dry and increasingly cold weather. Saturday’s high will top out at 47 degrees under partly cloudy skies, with overnight lows plunging to 29 degrees. Sunday will bring more sunshine and a high of 51, followed by another cold night with temperatures near 25.
Looking ahead to Monday, temperatures will barely rise above 43 degrees, reinforcing the need for warm layers as residents head back to work.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant for potential severe storms today and monitor local updates. Gusty winds and wet roads may cause temporary disruptions, but conditions should improve as the day progresses.
