North Carolina – Spring warmth is settling into North Carolina, bringing sunshine and mild temperatures before a chance of rain this weekend. Residents in Wilmington and Newport can expect sunny skies and comfortable highs before a shift in weather patterns by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday will bring mostly sunny conditions with highs reaching the mid-70s in Wilmington and Newport. Light southwest winds will increase to 10 mph, with occasional gusts up to 16 mph. Overnight lows will dip to the low 50s under mostly clear skies.

Friday remains dry, with highs near 74°F and partly cloudy conditions at night. By Saturday, temperatures will peak at 76°F, though increasing cloud cover signals an approaching system.

Rain chances begin Sunday, with a 50% chance of showers throughout the day and breezy conditions. Sunday night’s precipitation chances rise to 60%, with a low around 54°F. Monday continues the unsettled pattern, with a 40% chance of rain and highs near 66°F.

Drivers should be prepared for potential slick roads by Sunday night, particularly on major routes like U.S. Highway 17. Residents planning outdoor activities this weekend should take advantage of Thursday and Friday’s sunshine before rain moves in.
