Charlotte, NC – A line of strong thunderstorms is forecast to sweep across North Carolina on Monday, bringing hail, gusty winds, and the potential for isolated tornadoes by late evening.

The storms, tied to a cold front, are expected to impact the Piedmont and Upstate regions through Monday night, with peak intensity between 3 p.m. and midnight. According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, the heaviest rainfall and storm activity will likely move east across the region from the mountains through the Piedmont beginning Monday afternoon and continuing into early Tuesday. Storm chances are highest in Charlotte from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., with an 80% chance of precipitation.
