Raleigh, NC – Central North Carolina is bracing for a potential flood threat as a slow-moving low-pressure system brings heavy rainfall to the region. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch from late tonight through Tuesday morning for several counties, including Alamance, Cumberland, Forsyth, Wake, and Durham.

According to the NWS, up to 2 to 4 inches of rain are expected across the area, with localized flooding possible in low-lying and flood-prone regions. The storm system will bring moderate to heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding, especially in urban areas with poor drainage systems. The heaviest rainfall is anticipated overnight into Monday, continuing through early Tuesday morning.

Residents across central North Carolina, including cities like Raleigh, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Fayetteville, should stay alert for changing conditions. The rain could significantly impact roads, causing localized flooding and difficult driving conditions. Areas near rivers, creeks, and streams are most at risk of rising water levels.

With more rainfall expected, residents are advised to monitor weather updates and be prepared to take action if Flash Flood Warnings are issued. Be cautious of potential flooding in urban and rural areas, and avoid driving through flooded roads.

The Flood Watch remains in effect until early Tuesday morning, and additional advisories may follow as conditions evolve.
