Eastern North Carolina residents face a Dense Fog Advisory this morning, with visibility reduced to a quarter mile or less until 9 a.m. This advisory affects counties such as Bertie, Camden, and Currituck, impacting drivers on major routes and smaller county roads. Authorities advise motorists to use caution, slow down, and turn on low beam headlights to navigate the dense fog safely.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has highlighted potential hazards for drivers in school zones, where fog combined with flashing bus lights can reduce reaction time. Those driving along major routes in the affected counties should be particularly vigilant and allow extra distance from other vehicles.

Navigational Alert for Marine Areas

In addition to the roadways, a dense fog advisory has also been issued for marine areas including Albemarle, Croatan, and Roanoke Sounds. Boaters are encouraged to use fog signals and check their navigation equipment, as visibility could fall below one nautical mile, creating challenging conditions for both recreational and commercial vessels.
