Newport, NC – A strong cold front will move into eastern North Carolina this weekend, bringing gusty winds and periods of heavy rain Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the system could produce scattered thunderstorms, with the potential for wind gusts up to 25 mph. While no severe storms are expected, residents should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility.

Saturday will bring mild conditions, with partly sunny skies and a high near 64°F. Showers could develop late in the day, with rain becoming more widespread overnight. Rain chances increase to 100% Sunday, accompanied by windy conditions.

Looking ahead, Washington’s Birthday on Monday will be dry and sunny, with a high near 49°F. Tuesday will warm up to 52°F under clear skies.
