Raleigh, NC – A warm and sunny start to the week in Raleigh will soon give way to unsettled weather as showers and potential thunderstorms arrive midweek.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday will see decreasing clouds with a high of 68°F, followed by mostly clear skies Monday night with a low of 48°F. Tuesday will bring sunshine and a high near 72°F, but changes begin Tuesday night as clouds increase and temperatures drop to 44°F.
By Wednesday, rain chances rise, with a 30% chance of showers in the afternoon. Temperatures will reach a high of 60°F, but expect rain to become more widespread overnight, with a 50% chance of showers continuing into early Thursday.
Thursday is shaping up to be the wettest day of the week, with a high of 76°F and a 50% chance of showers throughout the day. Thunderstorms are possible in the evening, with the chance of rain continuing overnight into early Friday. By Friday, drier conditions return, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 67°F.
What to Expect on the Roads
Commuters should prepare for wet conditions on major highways, including I-40, I-440, and US-1, especially during Wednesday evening and Thursday’s morning rush hours. Rain may reduce visibility and lead to slick roads, increasing the risk of traffic delays.
If traveling later in the week, have an umbrella handy and allow extra time for your commute. Thunderstorms Thursday night could bring gusty winds and brief downpours, so stay weather-aware.
A mild weekend is ahead, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s. Expect partly cloudy conditions Friday night, with temperatures dropping to the mid-40s, followed by similar conditions into Saturday.
