Raleigh, NC – North Carolina faces frigid overnight temperatures Sunday night, with lows dipping into the low 20s, bringing a sharp chill to the region. The National Weather Service has urged residents to prepare for freezing conditions, which could persist into Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service Raleigh, typically colder locations like Henderson and Siler City could see temperatures fall into the teens. The sudden drop marks temperatures 8 to 12 degrees below average for this time of year. Residents should ensure outdoor pets are sheltered and water sources remain unfrozen.

Monday’s forecast shifts dramatically as rain moves into the region, beginning before 4 p.m. Southeast winds will increase, with gusts reaching 11 mph. Rainfall is expected to total up to a half-inch by nightfall. Drivers should exercise caution on roads such as Interstate 40 and U.S. 1 during the afternoon and evening hours as wet conditions could create slick spots.

Looking ahead, Tuesday brings sunny skies and a high near 41, providing a brief reprieve. However, temperatures plummet again Tuesday night with lows in the low 20s. Wednesday offers similar clear skies and highs near 43, but another cold night is expected.

With rapidly changing conditions, residents should monitor weather updates and take precautions to stay safe. Bundle up tonight and prepare for rain as the workweek begins.
