Drivers across northern Alabama should prepare for hazardous conditions as a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 8 a.m. Monday. The advisory impacts key areas, including Huntsville and regions along U.S. Highway 72 and U.S. 431, with visibility dropping to one-quarter mile or less in dense fog. Reduced visibility poses a significant danger for commuters and overnight travelers.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, the advisory extends across northern and central Alabama, as well as portions of southern Tennessee. Motorists are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and increase following distance while on the roads.
Conditions are expected to improve by mid-morning, but drivers should exercise caution. If possible, delay travel until the fog lifts, especially in areas known for high traffic, such as near Redstone Arsenal and downtown Huntsville. Warmer, clearer weather is forecast later this week, with sunny skies expected from Tuesday onward.
