Niagara Falls, NY – A winter weather advisory is in effect for Niagara County until 1 p.m. Wednesday, bringing lake effect snow, gusty winds, and hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, northern Niagara County near the Lake Ontario shoreline will see an additional 5 to 10 inches of snow. Winds gusting between 40 and 50 mph will cause blowing and drifting snow, making road conditions unpredictable.

The storm is expected to create dangerous travel conditions, particularly during the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes. The combination of heavy snow and strong winds may also down tree branches, leading to isolated power outages across the region.

Residents are advised to drive cautiously and prepare for quickly changing visibility. Those in the affected areas should monitor local weather updates and report snow accumulations to the National Weather Service.
