Binghamton, NY – Mild weather today across New York’s Southern Tier will shift into scattered showers by afternoon, potentially impacting drivers during the evening commute. The National Weather Service forecasts a warm front lifting through the region, with rain likely between 2 and 7 p.m. Motorists on I-81 and nearby roads are advised to exercise caution as roads may become slick.

According to the National Weather Service Binghamton office, today’s high temperatures will reach near 59 degrees, roughly 5-7 degrees above average for this time of year. Early evening will see increasing chances of rain, with the highest likelihood north of Binghamton. Rainfall is expected to remain light, with minimal accumulation, but could still disrupt travel in higher-traffic areas.

Tonight, scattered showers should taper off before 7 p.m., with mild temperatures around 50 degrees. Wednesday brings mostly sunny skies and a notable temperature increase, hitting a high of 74 degrees. Southwest winds will add to the warmth, making Wednesday a pleasant day for outdoor activities. However, rain is expected to return Thursday, with an 80% chance of showers and a drop in temperatures as a cold front moves in.

Looking ahead, Friday will stay mild with lingering showers, while Saturday and Sunday are expected to be mostly sunny with cooler temperatures, peaking around 53 degrees. Commuters and residents in the Binghamton area should remain cautious on wet roads today and prepare for cooler weekend weather.
