Brant, NY – Erie County is under a state of emergency as a powerful lake effect snowstorm delivers up to 20 inches of snow in some areas. The Town of Brant has enacted a driving ban, and travel advisories remain in place across the region.

According to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, the storm is hitting towns such as Brant, Evans, and Hamburg the hardest. Roads are snow-covered, and visibility is rapidly deteriorating, making travel extremely dangerous. The National Weather Service has issued a Lake Effect Snow Warning, effective through 7 p.m. Sunday. Officials predict snowfall totals will be highest in southern suburbs of Buffalo, with minimal accumulation in northern areas.

Residents are urged to stay home and avoid unnecessary travel as conditions continue to worsen. If travel is unavoidable, drivers are advised to carry emergency supplies, including blankets, water, and a flashlight. Authorities warn of sudden weather changes, with heavy snow squalls reducing visibility to near zero.

The storm is expected to continue through the weekend, with whiteout conditions likely in areas of persistent snowfall. Travelers should monitor updates and exercise extreme caution on the roads.
