Glens Falls, NY – A wintry mix is expected to create slick conditions across parts of upstate New York this weekend, with the National Weather Service issuing a Winter Weather Advisory for several northern counties.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, the advisory covers Hamilton, Northern Warren, Northern Washington, and Southeast Warren counties from 8 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Sunday. The region, including cities such as Glens Falls, Johnsburg, Whitehall, and Wells, could see snow totals up to one inch, along with ice accumulations ranging from one-tenth to a quarter of an inch.
Officials warn that the combination of light snow and freezing rain may result in dangerous travel conditions, especially on untreated roads, sidewalks, and driveways. Residents are urged to drive slowly, allow extra stopping distance, and take precautions when walking outdoors to avoid slips and falls.
Though snowfall amounts remain low, the potential for freezing rain poses a greater hazard for power lines, tree limbs, and elevated road surfaces. This event comes during a season where such late-March storms remain typical for the Adirondack region.
Travelers and commuters should monitor local alerts and prepare for slippery conditions through Sunday morning.
