Syracuse, NY – Snow-covered roads and reduced visibility are creating hazardous conditions this morning across Onondaga County as lake effect snow continues. Drivers should expect slippery conditions on main routes like I-81 and secondary roads until 1 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service, an additional three inches of snow may accumulate in localized areas. The advisory warns that today’s morning commute will be challenging due to snow-covered roads and rapidly changing visibility. Residents are urged to drive slowly, allow extra travel time, and prepare for delays.
While the advisory will expire at 1 p.m., forecasters caution that lingering snow showers may affect visibility through the afternoon. Beyond Tuesday, the week ahead brings a mix of weather conditions. Wednesday is expected to be cold but dry, with highs near 30°F. By Thursday, another system could bring light snow or freezing rain, making roads slick once again.
This week’s temperatures will stay below average, ranging from highs in the low 30s to lows in the teens. Snow chances remain steady through Friday, with an early look at the weekend showing sunnier skies.
