Albany, NY – A winter weather advisory remains in effect across eastern New York, western Massachusetts, southern Vermont, and northwestern Connecticut until 1 p.m. Thursday, with snow, ice, and gusty winds making travel hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, the region can expect up to two inches of snow and sleet, with some areas in the southern Adirondacks and Vermont seeing up to four inches. Ice accumulation could reach two-tenths of an inch, and winds may gust as high as 35 mph.

The advisory includes Litchfield County in Connecticut, the Lake George-Saratoga Region, the Catskills, and the Greater Capital Region. Road conditions are expected to be slippery, impacting the morning commute.

In Herkimer County, a second advisory will go into effect from 7 p.m. Thursday through 7 p.m. Friday, bringing lake-effect snow. The area near the Oneida County border could see between three and seven inches of snowfall, with winds gusting up to 45 mph.

Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution, especially on untreated roads. Pedestrians should watch for icy surfaces on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways to prevent falls.
