Buffalo, NY – A winter storm will continue impacting Buffalo and the surrounding areas through Saturday, with lake effect snow creating hazardous conditions. Residents should prepare for heavy snow accumulations, especially in areas east of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall rates could exceed two inches per hour Friday evening into Saturday morning, particularly in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties. Travel along I-90 and secondary roadways is expected to be treacherous due to reduced visibility and slick surfaces. Winds gusting up to 30 mph may further complicate road conditions.

Saturday’s high is forecast at 36°F, with snow showers likely throughout the day. Accumulations of 1–3 inches are possible, adding to totals from Friday. Saturday night could bring a mix of rain and snow, with temperatures dropping to 33°F.

Sunday will see milder temperatures near 44°F, with breezy conditions and a chance of light rain or snow. A warming trend is expected Monday, with highs reaching 46°F, but rain showers could linger. Tuesday offers a brief reprieve, with partly cloudy skies and highs near 48°F.

Officials urge drivers to exercise caution on major routes, including I-90, and to monitor weather updates closely. Residents are advised to clear snow from sidewalks and vehicles promptly to avoid ice buildup.
