Albany, NY – Residents across the Capital Region should prepare for colder conditions and possible snow showers starting Saturday evening. While temperatures have been slowly moderating, a cold snap will keep highs below freezing through most of the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, Saturday’s high in Albany will only reach 26°F, with increasing clouds throughout the day. Winds will remain light, but snow showers are expected late Sunday, bringing the potential for slick conditions on local roads, especially along I-87 and Route 7. Drivers are urged to exercise caution and allow extra time for travel during the evening.
Sunday will bring slightly higher temperatures, reaching around 35°F, but the chance of snow remains at 40% into the evening. Gusty winds up to 17 mph will add to the chill factor. By Monday, temperatures will rise to 36°F under partly sunny skies, marking the start of a gradual warming trend expected to continue through midweek.
The extended forecast includes highs reaching the mid-30s by Tuesday and Wednesday, offering some relief from the current cold spell. However, another round of snow showers may return late Tuesday night into Wednesday, making it essential to stay updated on changing conditions.
Residents are encouraged to prepare for fluctuating temperatures and keep an eye on weather updates, especially when planning outdoor activities.
