Albany, NY – Bitterly cold temperatures are expected to settle over Albany and the Capital Region this weekend, with sub-freezing lows continuing through Monday morning.

The National Weather Service predicts Saturday’s high will reach just 31°F under clear skies, but nighttime lows will plummet to 16°F. Areas like Glens Falls and Schoharie may see even colder temperatures, with overnight lows dipping below 15°F. Residents are advised to bundle up, as frostbite risks increase during prolonged exposure to these frigid conditions.

The cold will persist into Sunday, with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s and partly sunny skies. Sub-freezing overnight lows will again dominate, leaving icy patches on roads and sidewalks. Those traveling this weekend should exercise caution, particularly in rural or elevated areas where frost is more likely.

A warming trend is expected to begin Tuesday, bringing milder temperatures and a chance of rain. However, until then, residents should take precautions, such as checking heating systems, insulating pipes, and limiting outdoor exposure.

Stay informed by monitoring updates from local weather services and planning for the extreme cold to continue over the next several days.
