New York, NY – A spring split is in store for the Tri-State area on Friday, with Long Island residents experiencing cooler conditions while inland cities warm into the 80s.

According to the National Weather Service in New York, high temperatures on April 25 are expected to range from the low 60s along the immediate shoreline to the low 80s in the Hudson Valley and parts of New Jersey. Montauk could struggle to reach 61°F, while Poughkeepsie and Hartford are forecast to top out at 81°F. An increase in afternoon cloud cover is expected as a frontal boundary begins to push into the region.

The biggest contrasts will be felt across Suffolk and Nassau counties, where locations like Islip and Syosset may hover in the upper 60s, compared to 70s and 80s just 30 miles northwest. Cooler ocean air and onshore winds will keep coastal communities from fully warming.

Residents heading outdoors should dress in layers, especially if traveling between inland and shoreline areas. Drivers may notice variable road surface temps, and those planning evening events should prepare for a breezy cooldown.

More updates will follow as the frontal system nears. Cloud cover and shifting winds may impact weekend temperatures across the NYC metro area.
