Buffalo, NY – Light snow Saturday will taper off by evening, but lake-effect snow could disrupt travel tonight southeast of the lakes. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that snowfall accumulations could reach up to 3 inches in some areas before snow tapers early Sunday.
According to the NWS, temperatures will remain in the mid-20s to lower 30s Saturday before dipping into the teens tonight. Slick road conditions are likely, particularly on highways such as I-90 and Route 400. Travelers are advised to allow extra time for evening and overnight commutes.
Sunday will bring mostly cloudy skies with lake snow showers ending by afternoon. Highs will reach the low to mid-30s, with some sunshine breaking through in the afternoon. Drivers should remain cautious as icy patches could persist, particularly in shaded or untreated areas.
Looking ahead, colder air is forecast to flow into the region early next week, bringing another round of lake-effect snow Monday evening. Communities northeast and southeast of Lake Erie, including Southtowns and surrounding Buffalo suburbs, may see more accumulation. Snow showers could linger into Tuesday, with highs dropping into the low 20s.
Residents should monitor local weather updates as conditions may change, particularly for Monday’s snow system. Stay prepared with winter essentials in your vehicle and avoid nonessential travel during heavy snow periods.
Temperatures are expected to moderate slightly by midweek, but windy conditions could make it feel colder. For updates and weather advisories, visit the NWS website or follow their social media pages.
