Buffalo, NY – A dangerously cold night is ahead for western New York, with wind chills expected to drop between -15°F and -20°F, along with heavy lake-effect snow. The National Weather Service warns that snowfall rates off Lake Ontario could reach up to three inches per hour in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service Buffalo, strong winds will cause blowing and drifting snow, particularly in open areas, making travel hazardous. Residents are urged to dress warmly and limit outdoor exposure overnight into Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, in Kansas, snow has already begun falling across central parts of the state and is expected to expand southeastward. The National Weather Service Wichita advises motorists to use caution as road conditions deteriorate.

Both regions are facing hazardous winter weather, and officials urge residents to prepare accordingly by checking local advisories and avoiding unnecessary travel.
