Albany, NY – A winter weather advisory is in effect for eastern New York and western New England from 7 PM Wednesday through 1 PM Thursday, with snow and ice creating hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service Albany, light snow will overspread the region Wednesday evening, transitioning to a wintry mix overnight into Thursday morning. Snowfall totals are expected to range between 2 to 4 inches in Albany and surrounding areas, with higher amounts in the Adirondacks. Ice accumulation of up to 0.1 inches could further complicate travel.

The storm is forecast to impact the Thursday morning commute, with slick roads and reduced visibility expected. Areas including Saratoga Springs, Glens Falls, and Bennington, VT, may experience difficult driving conditions. The heaviest snowfall is anticipated between 10 PM Wednesday and early Thursday morning.

Residents are advised to drive with caution, allow extra travel time, and prepare for potential delays. Road crews will be treating highways, but icy spots may persist, particularly on bridges and overpasses.
