Albany, N.Y. – Heavy rain is sweeping across eastern New York and western New England Saturday, with localized showers expected to impact travel from Glens Falls to Brattleboro before drier weather returns Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, rain chances range from 65% to 85% through Saturday afternoon in cities like Old Forge, Gloversville, and Cobleskill. Precipitation should end by early evening, with skies clearing rapidly overnight. Sunday brings near-zero rain chances and dramatically lower sky cover, dropping below 10% in most areas.
Gloversville and Cobleskill will see some of the heaviest rain, with slick roads possible on Route 30 and Route 7. Herkimer and Old Forge, also under 80–85% rain likelihood, may experience visibility issues and ponding in low-lying areas. Temperatures Saturday remain mild, in the upper 50s to mid-60s, but rise sharply starting Monday when highs climb into the mid-70s.
Residents are encouraged to avoid unnecessary driving Saturday afternoon, and to check local alerts before evening plans. With clearing skies and warming temperatures into early next week, the region is in for a stretch of ideal spring weather.
Another update will be issued if lingering showers persist into Saturday evening.
